THE Health Ministry has identified two new Covid-19 clusters today, both in the peninsula, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The first is Ikhtisas, in the Petaling and Klang districts in Selangor, Jeli district in Kelantan and Seremban district in Negri Sembilan.
A total of 362 individuals were screened at this cluster as of noon today, with 22 testing positive, 213 cleared and 127 awaiting test results.
Noor Hisham said the index case for this cluster – case 33,122 – was confirmed positive during pre-surgical screening on October 29 and was admitted into Sg Buloh Hospital.
He said 21 close contacts tested positive for the virus.
The second new cluster identified is Berendam, which involved the Alor Gajah and Malacca Tengah districts in Malacca.
As of noon today, 1,861 have been screened in this cluster, of which eight have tested positive so far, 109 cleared and 1,744 still waiting for results.
The two clusters that ended today were Putra in Sarawak and Kuarters, involving the Tongod, Telupid and Kinabatangan districts in Sabah.
In the Putra cluster, 190 people were screened, with five positive cases detected. The rest tested negative.
Meanwhile in the Kuarters cluster, nine positive cases were detected from 1,432 people screened. The rest were negative for the virus.
No deaths were reported in both the clusters that ended. – November 8, 2020.
