PUTRAJAYA will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss if Sabah has to be placed under total lockdown, after almost each district in the state recorded a high number of Covid-19 cases.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said if the government was to impose a total lockdown in Sabah, it must first study the impact on the economy and the wellbeing of the people.
“We will study the impact first. If we impose a lockdown it will be different from the enhanced movement-control order. There will be an impact on everybody.
“On Monday we will discuss the situation in Sabah and then we will try and see the best option,” he said when asked about the current scenario in the state.
Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 1,755 daily Covid-19 cases – the highest since the pandemic hit the country in January.
Sabah continues to post the highest number of cases, with 1,199 infections recorded.
Penang was second with 192 cases, followed by Selangor with 164. – November 7, 2020.
