Police identify 3 men who assaulted ambulance driver


THE police have identified three suspected ‘mat rempit’ who were involved in the assault of an ambulance driver near the North Taiping Toll Plaza on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) yesterday.

Taiping police acting chief Supt Razlam Ab Hamid said the suspects were identified based on the descriptions provided by the victim.

“One of the suspects is expected to surrender tonight. The family of the suspect will hand him over at the police station,” he said in a statement here today.

Yesterday, the media reported that in the 1.40am incident, the 53-year-old driver was assaulted by a group of ‘mat rempit’ for reprimanding them over their motorcycling stunts.

At that time, the victim who was accompanied by a medical assistant and nurse, was in the midst of ferrying a patient from the Parit Buntar Hospital to the Taiping Hospital.
