MALAYSIA today reported a record 1,755 new Covid 19 cases, the highest since the pandemic began in the country, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah
Previously, Malaysia’s highest was at 1,240, which was recorded on October 26, but today’s number topped the previous record by 515 cases.
For the 31st consecutive day, Sabah is the highest contributor with 1,199 cases, taking the state’s cumulative number of cases since the onset of the pandemic to 19,282.
“A total of 741 or 42.2% of today’s total were reported in the clusters related to prisons and temporary detention centres.
“The Klang Valley on the other hand reported 191 cases and Labuan reported 59 cases. All five states are under the conditional movement-control order,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today.
Besides this, the nation also reported two deaths, taking the death toll to 279.
One death was reported in Sabah, while the other was reported in Kedah.
The victim in Sabah was a 67-year-old woman who had a medical history of diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma.
The deceased in Kedah, a 54-year-old man also had a medical history of high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease and stroke.
A total 726 patients have also recuperated from Covid-19 in the same period, with Selangor reporting the highest recoveries (322), followed by Sabah (221) and Negri Sembilan (95).
There are 11,530 active cases in the nation, with 78 of them admitted in the intensive care unit, while 28 of them require breathing assistance. – November 6, 2020.
