Six new clusters detected, says health D-G

SIX new Covid-19 clusters have been reported today, with three of them in Sabah, said Health Director General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

However, Dr Noor Hisham said the Embun and Bah Tanjung clusters have ended without further loss of life. 

“The first cluster is the Sandakan prison cluster; the index case is an inmate found positive on October 27. Contact tracing found 38 more infections.”

So far, “293 people have been screened.0 where 39 tested positive and 254 are still waiting for their test result.

The second cluster in Sabah is the Dialisis cluster in Lahad Datu and Sandakan. Following contact tracing, 16 people were found positive and they all have been sent to Lahad Datu hospital. As of today, 49 people have been screened, 19 positive where 14 are new cases.

The index case of the Sepanggar cluster in Kota Kinabalu was found positive on October 24. He was sent to a low-risk Covid-19  quarantine centre in Sabah. Seven close contacts have been found positive.

“Until today, 95 have been screened, eight positive cases where six are new ones. 86 people have been tested negative, only one individual is still waiting for his test result,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

He said the Embun cluster in Selangor had infected seven people and the Ministry had  screened 247 people, while for Bah Tanjung in Terengganu eight people were found infected after 230 people were screened.

On the other three new clusters, Dr Noor Hisham said one cluster in Petaling, Selangor, is called the Aero cluster.

Another cluster called Lengkuk is found in Sepang, Selangor, and Port Dickson and Rembau, Negri Sembilan.

The last cluster is called Gading, and was found in Putrajaya and Seremban.

“The Aero cluster index case tested positive on November 3 from a close contact screening and has been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Another round of contact tracing found 10 other people positive for the virus. As of noon today, ninety-five people have been screened and 84 of them tested negative.

“The Lengkuk cluster index case tested positive after a symptomatic screening and 23 more people have been found positive following a close contact tracing. The index case was sent to Sungai Buloh, while the rest were sent to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Rembau and Tampin Hospital.

“As of noon today, 86 people have been screened, 24 found positive and 62 others negative.

“The index case for the Gading cluster was found positive after a close contact screening on October 29. The next contact tracing found six more new cases amd all of them were admitted to Sungai Buloh.”

“Until noon, 32 people have been tested, seven people infected, three new cases, eight negative results while 17 others are still waiting for the test result,” said Dr Noor Hisham.– November 4, 2020.
