MORE than 1,000 new Covid-19 infections were reported for a second day today, at 1,032, with Sabah contributing the most cases, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
There were also eight deaths reported, raising the death toll to 271.
Sabah had 646 cases, followed by Selangor with 231.
Negri Sembilan and Labuan recorded 44 and 28 new cases, respectively.
Yesterday saw 1,054 cases reported, after a week of fewer than 1,000 new cases recorded.
With the new infections today, the national caseload is now at 35,425.
“Sabah is again recording the highest number of infections, followed by states in the Klang Valley and Labuan,” Noor Hisham said in his daily press briefing on the pandemic.
“All of the states mentioned are still under the conditional movement-control order.”
On the eight deaths, seven of them were in Sabah and one in Perak. Seven of them were male, and all were elderly except for a 56-year-old.
Although the most cases are from Sabah, Noor Hisham also said the state had a high number of recoveries, with 472 out of today’s total of 820 recoveries.
Cumulatively, recoveries from the virus now stand at 24,815 cases.
There are now 10,399 active cases, of which 82 are being treated in intensive care, with 27 requiring breathing support. – November 4, 2020.
