MUKIM 12 of Penang island’s southwest district will be placed under the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) from November 6 to 19, the National Security Council has decided.
Its spokesman Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this follows advice from the Health Ministry after an increase in Covid-19 cases in the area.
“As of November 3, a total of 35 positive Covid-19 cases, including 11 new ones, have been recorded in the district.
“Upon the ministry’s advice, the NSC in a special meeting today agreed to implement the CMCO in the sub-district 12 (Mukim 12) of the Penang southwest district effective from November 6 to 19,” Ismail Sabri said in his daily briefing on Covid-19 movement restrictions today.
Ismail Sabri said the implementation of the CMCO in the district is to enable the ministry to carry out targeted Covid-19 screenings in the area.
He also said the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the district is similar to those announced earlier.
Besides this, the defence minister also said the enhanced MCO (EMCO) in the Taman Harmoni flats, Sandakan, Sabah would end tomorrow as scheduled.
He said there were no new cases recorded in the area as of October 26.
Ismail Sabri however said although the EMCO is lifted in the Taman Harmoni flats, Sabah is still under CMCO and that residents in the area have to comply with the relevant SOP.
In the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sabah was placed under partial lockdown from October 13 to 26.
However, it was extended a further two weeks and now will end on November 9. – November 4, 2020.
