BATU MP P. Prabakaran has questioned the move to cut short today’s Parliament sitting by three hours and wondered if it was a move to bury some of the opposition’s motions.

“Many pending issues and motions to be tabled this time, shortening the hours of the sitting will not help in anyway. The issues of the rakyat has to be given priority.

“I hope this is not another political strategy to bury some of the motions brought by the opposition,” he asked in a Facebook post today.

The parliament ended the sitting today at 1pm after an aide to a senator tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan said the rescheduling of sitting will be for a week and later u-turned and said that it is on a daily basis, so what is the exact decision here?” asked the PKR Federal Territories youth chief.

He said the motion to restrict the sitting to just the morning was unwarranted as MPs and their staff had to undertake Covid-19 tests before entering Parliament as per the SOP.

“How much can you curb the spreading of Covid by shortening the sitting from 10am to 1pm? What difference will it make?” asked Prabakaran on Facebook today. – November 2, 2020.
