THE police will take Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa’s statement later today over his remarks on Muhyiddin Yassin’s appointment as prime minister in March that allegedly insults the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Bukit Aman CID deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the Amanah lawmaker was summoned to present himself in Bukit Aman at 5.30pm today.

He said Mujahid is being questioned over his statement on social media questioning the king’s appointment of Muhyiddin in March.

The appointment followed the previous Pakatan Harapan government’s collapse that allowed Muhyiddin to form a new ruling pact with Umno, PAS and Sarawak’s ruling pact GPS.

“A number of police reports were filed against Mujahid’s statement. We have called him in to record his statement at 5.30pm today,” Mior told The Malaysian Insight.

He added Mujahid is being investigated under the Sedition Act and for sharing offensive and menacing content under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998.

He said another Amanah lawmaker, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, is also being investigated for the same offence.

“Khalid gave his statement recently. We need both their statements to complete our investigation,” Mior said.

It was reported that Mujahid had questioned Muhyiddin’s appointment as prime minister despite PH having majority support.

He had allegedly said the king did not want PH to continue heading the government as it only had 40 Malay lawmakers. – November 2, 2020.
