Man stabbed, mowed down by car at Johor Baru petrol station

A 30-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed and mowed down by a car with four men inside at a petrol station in Jalan Sri Pelangi, Taman Pelangi, Johor Baru, yesterday.

The incident occurred about 7.30pm when the victim, who was with a foreign woman in her 20s, believed to be his wife, was using the air pump at the premises to inflate the tyres of their Volkswagen.

State police chief Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the four men, who were in a BMW, approached the couple and tried to drag the victim into their vehicle.

However, the victim resisted and a struggle ensued. The woman ran to seek help from the public.

“The victim managed to free himself, but the suspects then got back into their car, made a turn and mowed him down, and then reversed the vehicle and knocked him down again before escaping,” Khalil told reporters at the scene.

He said the man died on the spot.

Police found a stab wound on the left side of the victim’s chest.

“Police have taken a statement from the woman, who is traumatised over the incident,” said Khalil.

He said the motive behind the incident was being investigated, and the case had been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama, December 18, 2017.
