No deaths, recoveries top new Covid-19 cases

AFTER 21 days, Malaysia recorded zero deaths from Covid-19 infections today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.  

In a statement, the director-general of health said the last time the nation recorded zero deaths was on October 7.  

He said today, the country also reported more recoveries than new cases.  

Noor Hisham said 685 recoveries were reported, compared to 649 new infections.  

Sabah was top in recoveries and new cases.  

The Borneo state recorded 458 recoveries and 352 new infections, or 54.2% of total cases today.  

The total number of cases recorded in Sabah since the onset of the pandemic now stands at 14,053.  

Klang Valley states, on the other hand, contributed to 159 or 24.5% of the cases today.  

“All four states contributed to 511 or 78.7% of the total Covid-19 cases today, and all of them are currently under the conditional movement-control order,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today. 

With today’s recoveries, there is a slight drop in the number of active cases but it still remains above the 10,000 mark.  

There are 10,087 active cases in the country with 106 admitted in intensive care units, and 23 requiring breathing assistance.  

The nation’s cumulative cases now stand at 30,090. – October 29, 2020.
