SELANGOR Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said he will take legal action against anyone who defamed him over his breach of a self-quarantine order.

He told reporters today that he would explain to the authorities why he was outside when he was supposed to be under self-quarantine.

“I am ready to take court action against those who make claims against me because these only cause inconvenience to the police,” he said in Shah Alam today.

He said the matter had also caused a lot of unnecessary speculation towards him.

Police on Saturday said they would record Amirudin’s statement on him allegedly breaching a self-quarantine order.

The case is being investigated under Section 15 and Section 22 (B) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 1988 for not complying with a valid directive issued by any authorised officer.

On October 4, Amirudin, through his Twitter account, apologised for having to break his quarantine order to check river pollution that caused two water treatment plants at Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi to shut.

Amirudin said he wore a mask, and that two Covid-19 tests returned negative.
