119 clusters still active, two new detected

MORE than 100 Covid-19 clusters are active in Malaysia, of which two new ones were reported today, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

From the onset of the pandemic, Malaysia has had a total of 230 clusters, of which 119 are currently active.

Thirty-eight of the 119 clusters are still actively reporting new cases, he said at a press conference today.

Sixty-two clusters or 30% of the total number involve workplace infections.

Of the 62, 37 are currently active clusters.

Of the two new clusters today, one was reported in Sabah and the other in Labuan.

The cluster in Sabah involves the Kota Kinabalu district, with six people infected out of 21 screened.

In the cluster in Labuan, 383 people were screened. Of which 20 tested positive, while 319 are still waiting for results. 

Today, Malaysia recorded 835 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths. 

This means Malaysia has now reported fatalities for 20 consecutive days. 

Sabah once again recorded the highest number of cases at 410, taking the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 13,155. – October 27, 2020.
