Covid-19 fatalities for 20 straight days, 835 new cases

WITH two more Covid-19 deaths today, Malaysia has now reported fatalities for 20 consecutive days and a total death toll of 238.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 835 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s cumulative number of cases to 28,640.

The two fatalities were reported at the Tawau Hospital, Sabah, and were aged 53 and 82.

Of the new infections today, Sabah once again recorded the highest number of cases at 410. 

“Yesterday, Sabah reported 927 cases. This is a drop in 517 or 55.8% cases from the figure reported in the state yesterday,” Dr Noor Hisham told a press conference at Putrajaya today. 

Sabah’s total number of cases since the onset of the pandemic now stands at 13,155. 

After Sabah, Negri Sembilan recorded the second highest by state with 155 cases, while the Klang Valley reported 138 cases. 

Malaysia also recorded 674 recoveries today, bringing the total tally of those discharged to 18,499.

Active cases stand at 9,903, with 89 of them in the intensive care unit (ICU), of which 32 require respiratory assistance. – October 27, 2020.
