TWO areas in Selangor and another in Sarawak will be placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) for two weeks, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The senior minister said the Sg Emas flats in Kuala Langat and Plaza Hentian Kajang, Hulu Langat will be placed under lockdown from October 29 to November 10.
He said the two areas had seen a massive spike of Covid-19 cases, with the Sg Emas flats reporting 42 positive cases while Plaza Hentian Kajang reported 63 cases.
Ismail Sabri said Kg Haji Baki in Kuching will come under lockdown after 27 positive cases were reported.
He said 1,300 people living at the flats and terrace houses will be affected, while in Kajang, 7,500 residents will be affected.
Over in Kuching, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO will involve 532 homes, affecting 4,191 residents.
To ensure compliance, he said police, army, civil defence, People’s Volunteer Corps, local authorities and authorised officers, will control all areas involved.
Ismail Sabri also added that the lockdown at the Penang prison and its quarters, which was set to end tomorrow, has been extended to November 11.
He said that since October 26, health authorities have taken 4,196 samples and many have tested positive for the virus. – October 27, 2020.
