THE special cabinet meeting which took place this morning has ended with Perikatan Nasional ministers leaving the Prime Minister’s Office without saying a word to the media.

The ministers got into their cars and left without stopping as their vehicles were swarmed by waiting journalists.

Among the ministers who were first to leave the PMO in Putrajaya were Foreign Affairs Minister Hishamuddin Hussein, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa and National Unity Minister Halimah Sadik.

At the same time, Barisan Nasional parliamentarians are having a meeting of their own at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

That meeting was called to discuss events of the past 24 hours after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had rejected a cabinet bid to have emergency rule to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin called for the special cabinet meeting today to discuss the king’s decree that there was no need for emergency anywhere in the country in the fight against the pandemic.

The king had said that the government is doing a good job in handling the Covid-19 crisis and urged politicians to immediately stop any form of politicking which will disrupt the stability of the ruling government. – October 26, 2020.
