THE number of new Covid-19 infections today have dropped below the four- digit mark to 823, a day after Malaysia’s all-time high surpassing 1,000 cases yesterday.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Sabah is once again the biggest contributor with 533 cases, equivalent to 64.8% of today’s cases.
“This number shows a decrease in 356 cases (40%) compared to the total number of cases reported yesterday in the state Sabah.
“This is due to the number of new cases recorded from the Kepayan and Kota Kinabalu prisons which decreased from 434 cases yesterday to 67 cases today,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today.
Penang was second highest on the list with 97 new cases.
The Klang Valley area had 99 cases or 12% of today’s total, with Selangor contributing 88 of them, followed by Kuala Lumpur (10) and Putrajaya (1).
The nation also recorded eight deaths today, taking the total mortality tally to 229.
All fatalities involved Malaysians and were reported in Sabah. – October 25, 2020.
