THE extended conditional movement-control order (CMCO) in Sabah until November 9 also applies to areas that were initially due to end their lockdowns tomorrow, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
The extended CMCO will now apply to Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna, the defence minister said in a press statement.
“Yesterday, the government announced the CMCO extension for Sabah (from October 27 to November 9), therefore this extension applies to all districts in the state.”
Ismail Sabri said the decision was made following advice from the Health Ministry and the Sabah National Security Council on the current Covid-19 situation in the state.
Malaysia yesterday reported a record number of daily Covid-19 cases at 1,228, of which 889 were from Sabah, an all-time high for the state.
Sabah has been at the epicentre of Malaysia’s third wave of Covid-19 infections, consistently topping national case tallies in the past several weeks.
There are now 8,966 Covid-19 patients being treated. Malaysia’s Covid-19 caseload now stands at 25,742. – October 25, 2020.
