THE Health Ministry is monitoring surges in the number of Covid-19 cases and will see if there is a need to continue with the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry was looking at the daily data and will suggest to the National Security Council if there was a need to extend the CMCO.

“If there is no increase the next week, then we don’t have to (extend).

“Now, we monitor daily if we have to extend or not,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said they will continue to check on the data and see if there is a need for extension.

“But the fact is today, the cases are increasing.”

Malaysia today reported a record number of daily Covid-19 cases at 1,228.

This grim national milestone is reflected in Sabah, which reported an all-time high of 889 cases.

The Bornean state has been at the epicentre of Malaysia’s third wave of Covid-19 infections, consistently topping national case tallies in the past several weeks. – October 24, 2020.
