ANJUNG Teduh, Felda Sahabat in Lahad Datu will be under administrative enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) from October 24 to November 6 said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The senior minister said the restriction order will affect 544 houses and 4,629 residents.

“Following today’s meeting with the Sabah National Security Council, we decided to impose the EMCO in Anjung Teduh, Felda Sahabat after seeing an increase of Covid-19 cases.”

“Under the EMCO, residents are not allowed to leave the area but we will allow grocery shops in the village to operate from 6am to 6pm daily.”

“The state government will provide food but we understand some might need other essentials such as baby milk powder and diapers. So we allow convenience shops to open,” said Ismail Sabri.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said Putrajaya decided to extend EMCP in Sabah – six localities in Semporna and one in Kunak.

He said the six localities in the Semporna area are Kg Bangau-Bangau, Kg Panji, Kg Air, Kg Selamat, Kg Simunul and Kg Pinggir Bakau. Kg Pangkalan in Kunak is affected as well.

“Prior to this, we had placed all areas mentioned under the EMCO from October 11 to 24.”

“From our assessment, there are still cases of Covid-19 in all the areas. Therefore, we have agreed to extend the restriction order till November 6.

“However, we are allowing grocery shops to open from 6am to 6pm,” Ismail Sabri said.

He then added that a second Covid-19 screening will be conducted by health officers to curb the spread of the virus.

On September 28, Semporna was placed under targeted enhanced movement-control order (TEMCO).

Then on October 9, six localities in Semporna were placed under EMCO.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah recently said five out of 10 individuals screened in Semporna, Sabah, tested positive for Covid-19.

The district has the highest infection rate in the state, he told a press conference in Putrajaya.

“In Semporna, initially, for every 10 patients swabbed, five would be positive.

“The highest (infection rate) is certainly in Semporna. Other states were not as high,” he said. – October 22, 2020.
