Two new clusters in Selangor, Malacca

THE Health Ministry has identified two new clusters in Selangor and Malacca, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, bringing the total active clusters to 87.

The director-general of health said the new clusters are Hentian in Hulu Langat, Selangor and Bukit, which had claimed victims in Malacca Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin in Malacca.  

He said for the Hentian cluster, the index case tested positive for Covid-19 on October 15 after showing symptoms.

“The individual has been admitted to the Sg Buloh Hospital. Close contact screening confirmed six more positive cases,” he said during a press conference in Putrajaya today.  

A total of 127 individuals have been screened to date, with 120 awaiting their results.

As for the Bukit cluster, Noor Hisham said the index case confirmed positive for Covid-19 as a result of screening of symptomatic individuals on October 13.  

“The individual has been admitted to the Malacca Hospital. Close contact screening uncovered 14 more cases.”

Out of 89 individuals screened, Noor Hisham said 73 tested negative, while one other is awaiting the test results. 

He added that 31 clusters had new positive cases today. – October 19, 2020.
