New Covid-19 cases from 31 clusters

THIRTY-ONE of 85 active Covid-19 clusters in Malaysia have reported new positive cases to date, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

He said that with four new clusters reported today, the nation has recorded 190 total clusters since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, with 105 coming to an end so far. 

The four new clusters today are Bah Layangan in Labuan/Rembau, Alma in Penang, Auto in Selangor and Kepayan prison in Sabah.

Noor Hisham said they detected nine cases in the Auto cluster to date but the source of the infection has yet to be identified. 

In the Bah Layangan cluster, 13 infections have been detected so far out of 142 screened. 

Sixty-seven individuals tested negative while 62 are waiting for results. 

The Alma cluster involved north and central Seberang Perai, Penang, where seven individuals tested positive for the virus. 

A total of 183 have been screened, where 42 tested negative and 133 awaiting results. 

The Kepayan prison cluster, meanwhile, saw a total of 170 individuals screened, where 49 tested positive and 121 negative. 

A total of 78 infections were reported from these four new clusters. – October 18, 2020.
