81 clusters in the nation still active, says Health D-G

THERE are 81 Covid-19 clusters in the nation that are still active, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 32 of these 81 clusters reported new cases today, with five new clusters reported.

A total of 87 positive cases were reported from these five new clusters.

Cluster Teduh in Sabah reported 11 positive cases from a total of 535 screened, while 524 are still awaiting results.

The Menara cluster, which involves several districts in the Klang Valley reported 33 positive cases from a total of 180 screened with 114 waiting for their results.

The new Sental cluster also involves several districts in the central region.

A total of 135 were screened in these clusters, where five tested positive, 122 were negative while eight are awaiting results.

The Keladi cluster in Selangor reported 26 positive cases from 107 screened, 74 tested negative, while seven are still waiting for results.

Finally, the Bah Bemban involves the Dungun district in Terengganu and Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah with 12 individuals tested positive with 210 waiting for results.

Dr Noor Hisham said more than 25% of the Covid-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours came from the three prison clusters in the northern region.

He also said that since the Covid-19 pandemic began, Malaysia reported a total of 186 clusters, where 105 have ended.

In the past 24 hours, Malaysia reported a record 869 infections with four deaths. – October 17, 2020.
