GYMS and football fields are allowed to operate under the current conditional movement-control order (CMCO) but with added conditions, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri.

He said football fields would only be allowed to operate for training purposes and only 10 people per football team are allowed.

“Only football training is allowed at football fields. Matches and competitions are not allowed under the CMCO,” Ismail Sabri said at a press conference today.

He also said that considering most exercise sessions at the gym are carried out by individuals alone, people are allowed to go back to gyms as long as they keep to themselves and adhere to the standard operating procedures.

“Because gym activities are mostly conducted alone, which enables individuals to have social distancing, the security council has decided to allow it to operate under the CMCO,” he said.

He said this decision came after the Youth Ministry had asked for these places to be allowed to operate under the CMCO.

Last week, the Defence Ministry announced a two-week CMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Putrajaya following a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The control order is expected to end on October 27. – October 17, 2020.
