ELEVEN Amanah lawmakers today submitted separate motions to hold a confidence vote for Muhyiddin Yassin, on the grounds the house has lost faith in the prime minister’s ability to lead.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his four lawmakers in Pejuang put in their motions yesterday for the same.

Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar said all eleven motions including from party president Mohamad Sabu have been submitted to the Dewan Rakyat.

He said their applications were for a motion and a resolution to determine whether Prime Minister Muhyiddin as the Pagoh member of Parliament does not have the confidence of the Dewan Rakyat members.

The Pokok Sena MP also challenged Muhyiddin to prove that he has numbers in the Dewan Rakyat.

“I challenge Muhyiddin to list the MPs supporting him or he should just resign,” Mahfuz told The Malaysian Insight.

Other Amanah members include former health minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, former federal territories minister Khalid Samad and former agriculture minister Salahuddin Ayub.

This series of motions against him further adds pressure on Muhyiddin to remain as the prime minister.

Muhyiddin’s position looks shaky following claims by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim that he has the support of the majority to form a new government.

At the same time, Muhyiddin appeared to have lost the support of his Umno allies.

Earlier this year, Dr Mahathir’s bid to table a no-confidence vote against Muhyiddin was rejected twice as they were placed at the end of the order paper.

The former prime minister accused his successor of abusing his power to delay the motion. – October 16, 2020.
