1 Utama gets nod to open tomorrow

1 UTAMA Shopping Centre was given the green light today to resume business now that contact tracing and screening for Covid-19 is completed.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said about 6,000 tenants and workers and 110 patrons had been tested for infection, while the premises were sanitised.

“Those who tested positive have been sent to the hospitals and those who are asymptomatic have been put under quarantine for 14 days.

“Based on the (health authorities’) advice and actions taken by the mall, it is decided that it can open on October 17,” he said during a press conference at his residence.

The mall in Bandar Utama was ordered to close on October 11 following an outbreak of coronavirus.

The initial order from the Petaling district disaster management committee was for the mall to close for two weeks until October 25.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah yesterday said the Utama Covid-19 cluster had 132 cases, 87 of which were security guards.

The index case was a 28-year—old Nepali security guard. – October 16, 2020.
