ISTANA Negara will be under a semi-lockdown as part of the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, which begins tomorrow.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has decreed to place movement restrictions on the palace.
“Istana Negara will implement a semi-lockdown that has come into effect until a date to be determined later,” Fadil said.
The comptroller also said the king urged all citizens to exercise calm and discipline in maintaining personal hygiene and abiding to standard operating procedures under the CMCO.
The palace’s move comes amid speculation that the heads of various parties will be summoned to meet the king over opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s claim that he has support from the majority of MPs to form a new government.
Anwar met the king this morning for 25 minutes, during which he said he presented documentary evidence on the majority support for him to be prime minister.
The Pakatan Harapan chairman also said the king should be given time to meet the heads of political parties in the next few days for their views.
The CMCO for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya was announced yesterday, and takes effect tomorrow for 14 days. – October 13, 2020.
