EMPLOYERS are encouraged to send their frontline staff for Covid-19 screenings from time to time, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

He said employees who frequently come into contact with the public should be sent for regular screenings to ensure they have a clean bill of health and are Covid-19-free.

“Employers are encouraged to send their employees for screenings from time to time, especially for sectors that involve a lot of interaction with the public,” he said in a virtual press conference today.

Several shopping malls in the Klang Valley in the past week confirmed they had Covid-19 cases on their premises.

Most of the reported cases were outlet staff in the malls.

Noor Hisham said the Health Ministry will conduct risk assessment and Covid-19 screening at the affected outlets.

Among the malls that reported Covid-19 cases were AEON Bukit Tinggi, Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens, Bangsar Shopping Centre, 3 Damansara, 1 Utama, Paradigm Mall, Nu Sentral, Sunway Pyramid, Suria KLCC and the Linc KL.

The number of Covid-19 infections in Malaysia breached the 16,000 mark today, with another 563 cases reported in the past 24 hours.

Two deaths also were reported.  – October 12, 2020.
