THE Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Janggus will not take any legal action against the school after a teacher there contracted Covid-19, said Zainal Abidin Omar.

The PTA chairman said legal action is not necessary since only one teacher has been infected and the virus has not spread to pupils and teachers at the school.

“We do not have enough information that the teacher was the source of the infection.

“If it is true, then why were no other teachers and pupils found positive? So there is no need for the PTA to take any action on this matter,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Zainal Abidin also refuted reports that the PTA is taking the school administration and the Education Ministry to court over the virus case.

Last Thursday, Penang Education director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad ordered SK Permatang Janggus to close until October 8 after a teacher was tested positive for Covid-19.

All pupils and teachers of the school were also required to undergo swab tests.

Zainal Abidin said a police report has been lodged over the fake viral message that alleged legal action over the virus case.

“We have made a police report at the North Seberang Perai police station over the message. We are leaving it to the police to investigate,” he said

He said the school has reopened to Years 3,4,5 and 6 pupils but Year 1 and 2 pupils will remain under the 14-day quarantine rule. – October 10, 2020.
