Water supply back in 92% of areas

MORE than 90% of the affected areas in Selangor have their water supply restored as at 6am today, said Air Selangor.

“Water supply is back to 251 areas from the 274 affected areas, which is at 92% in all,” said Air Selangor corporate communication chief Elina Baseri.

Full supply is back in Sepang and Putrajaya, followed by Hulu Langat (88%), Kuala Langat (86%) and Petaling (85%).

“Air Selangor is taking action to stabilise the distribution system to rehabilitate the remaining 23 affected areas,” she said.

A total of 309,687 account holders in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sepang and Putrajaya experienced unscheduled water supply disruption since Sunday following the closure of the Sg Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi treatment plants due to water pollution.

The shutdown comes less than a month after another case of pollution left 1.2 million consumers in the Klang Valley without water for six days. – October 8, 2020.
