THE police are looking into claims that Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari breached Covid-19 quarantine rules, said the deputy inspector-general of police.

Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the police are monitoring claims made on social media against Amirudin and will open an investigation if need be.

“We are looking into this matter after it went viral on social media. We will open investigations if there is a need.

“We will open investigation papers (later) but we have not received any reports on this matter,” he said at the police training college in Cheras today.

He added the police are aware that Amirudin issued an apology for the supposed breach.

Acryl Sani said the police will be stern in ensuring people adhere to SOPs set to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“We will take whatever action is necessary to stop the spread of the virus,” he said when asked if the police will also take action against Lunas state rep Azman Nasrudin.

Azman is reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from campaigning in Sabah.

His wife, a teacher, had then fallen ill, but had gone to her school first before seeking treatment at a hospital.

As a result, the Penang Education Department has instructed closure of SK Permatang Janggus, Penaga, in Kepala Batas for eight days, with about 600 pupils to undergo Covid-19 screening and ordered to quarantine at home. – October 7, 2020.

  • We will take whatever action is necessary to stop the spread of the virus, Not a word can be believed! More wastage of taxpayer money by kicking the can vs real police work.
