IT seems Sabah may see cooperation between opposition parties in the 14th General Election after all.

Talks are currently underway between leaders of state opposition parties and Sabah Pakatan Harapan (Sabah PH), but chairman of the latter, Christina Liew is enigmatic on their progress, saying “All will become known in due time”.

Liew declined to name the parties involved, saying they would be revealed at Sabah PH’s Christmas open house on December 22.

The national opposition is also expected to unveil a second manifesto at the same event, which will involve Sabah PH members from Tenom, Keningau, Bingkor, Tambunan, Pensiangan, and Nabawan.

“We are going to launch the second pre-manifesto, ‘Rural Economic Development’.

“PH deputy president cum Amanah president Mohammad Sabu and other national PH leaders will attend the event.

“Only those who attend the event will know which Sabah opposition parties Sabah PH is presently in talks with,” she said.

This comes in the wake of Sabah PH components DAP, PKR, and Amanah’s final seat distribution discussion on December 9.

Sources within Sabah PH said Parti Warisan Sabah led by Shafie Apdal and Parti Cinta Sabah led by Wilfred Bumburing are in talks with opposition coalition.

Sp far, only Warisan has indicated support for Sabah PH.

Liew refused to confirm whether more parties were involved, and whether Sabah PH was talking to Sabah-based coalition United Sabah Alliance (USA).

It is understood Sabah PH has snubbed USA over the views of its leader, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Lajim Ukin, who wants Sabah PH not to contest for more seats in the state. This is to make way for USA, which is made up of Sabah Solidariti Tanah Airku (Sabah Star), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, Sabah Progressive Party, and Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah. – December 14, 2017.
