MCA is the second political party to announce the postponement of all divisional annual general meetings (AGM) due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.

“MCA president Wee Ka Siong has directed all MCA/youth/Wanita divisions to postpone their divisional AGMs from the earlier scheduled dates of October 2020 until further notice,” secretary-general Chong Sin Woon said in a statement.

The decision was made in view of the high number of new virus infections that “indicates the possibility of a recurrence of the daily numbers recorded during pre-RMCO days,” he added.

Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan also announced the postponement of all party divisional meetings, including for the Wanita, youth and Puteri wings.

Malaysia yesterday recorded 260 new cases, the second-highest daily tally in the country since 277 cases were reported on June 4.

Four new Covid-19 clusters were also detected yesterday, in Selangor, Sabah, Putrajaya and Kedah.

The spike follows the recent Sabah state elections held on September 26. – October 2, 2020.
