WITH the exception of Sarawakians, all travellers – Malaysians and foreigners alike – will be banned from entering the state from Sunday to October 18 if their travel originates from Sabah or Labuan.

Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah said in view of the number of cases reported in many peninsular states linked to those returning from Sabah, Sarawak has to take a drastic step to shield its people from the virus.

Uggah, who chairs the state Disaster Management Committee, told a press conference today that, from Sunday, Sarawakians travelling from Sabah or Labuan who wish to return to the state must apply for permission.

Applications can be made online via the EnterSarawak website, where an e-health declaration form must also be filled.

Returnees must also undergo a 14-day quarantine period in a hotel and take Covid-19 RT-PCR tests on the second and 10th days.

Uggah said the cost of the two tests will be borne by the state government.

Uggah said non-Sarawakians providing essential servicess in the state must also apply for permission, fill the e-health declaration form and take the RT-PCR Covid-19 tests three days before they travel. – October 1, 2020.
