THE Federal Territories Ministry will review the standard operating procedure (SOP) for bars and restaurants as the number of people flouting the recovery movement-control order (RMCO) guidelines has increased, said its minister, Annuar Musa.

It is crucial for City Hall and the Federal Territory crisis management centre to revisit the current SOP, he said.

“It should be further strengthened and the public should not take things for granted as we are still combating the Covid-19 pandemic while there is no vaccine.”

The government has not given the green light for pubs and nightclubs to operate just yet.

But pubs and nightclubs are operating and many are flouting the SOP.

On Monday, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 661 individuals were arrested for failing to comply with the SOP, with activities in pubs and nightclubs the biggest culprits with 577 arrested or fined.
