Number of Sabah infections remains high, says Noor Hisham

SABAH continued to record a high number of Covid-19 infections, with 98 cases reported in the past 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Selangor recorded 10 new infections, followed by Kedah, Terengganu, Malacca and Labuan with one case each.

There were three other imported cases, bringing the total number of new infections to 115 in the past 24 hours.

Noor Hisham said the Bangau Bangau cluster in Sabah has the highest number of infections, with 46 cases.

“There were 39 from the Lahad Datu Benteng cluster, eight from symptomatic screening, two from the Pulau cluster, one from the Buang Sayang cluster, one involving medical staff and one from a close contact case,” he said.

“Six new cases came from the Jalan Apas cluster in Selangor and four other individuals were found positive after screening.

“Meanwhile, in Kedah there is one new case from the Sungai cluster; in Malacca from a patient who was screened before surgery; in Terengganu involving a person who also had travel history to Sabah; and Labuan from a close contact infection,” he said.

Noor Hisham said eight patients were in intensive care, five of which were intubated.

The death toll stands at 134 with 54 recoveries in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,889. – September 28, 2020.
