THE Health Ministry has revealed another new cluster in Selangor, dubbed as the Apas cluster, as positive cases in the state continue to rise.

In a brief statement published on Facebook, the ministry also said that there are 115 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative cases to 11,034.

“Sabah recorded 98 cases, Selangor 10, Terengganu and Kedah each recorded one case.

“As of Monday, there are 112 local transmission cases and three imported cases.

“Of the 115, 11 cases had a history of traveling to Sabah,” the ministry said.

Meanwhile the death toll stands at 133.

A married couple from Selangor became the index case of the latest Covid-19 cluster announced by the ministry earlier today.

In a full statement, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the couple had been to Tawau and Semporna in mid-September for a short holiday.

“They were in Sabah September 13-16 and they developed cough, fever and flu symptoms on September 18, before seeking medical treatment the following day.

“They were admitted at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang on September 24 and were found positive for Covid-19.

“On Saturday, they were transferred to Sungai Buloh Hospital,” Noor Hisham said.

Based on the screening of close contacts, he said, six more people tested positive yesterday.

To date, 66 individuals have been screened, Noor Hisham said.

“Of those, eight have been found positive with six new cases, while 56 others tested negative and two more are still waiting for the test result,” he said, adding that the cause of the infection is still under investigation. – September 28, 2020.
