PUTRAJAYA will enforce an administrative targeted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO) on four districts in Sabah starting midnight, following a spike in Covid-19 cases there.

The four districts are Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the TEMCO will last until October 12.

“The administrative TEMCO is imposed under the advice of the Health Ministry, and will take effect from September 29, starting 12.01am until October 12.

“The TEMCO on these four districts will involve as many as 962,661 people,” the defence minister said in a statement today.

Ismail Sabri said 1,195 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in these four districts since September 1.

Tawau has the highest number of cases with 634, followed by Semporna (255), Lahad Datu (241) and Kunak (65).

Ismail Sabri said the TEMCO on the four districts for 14 days was to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 and to allow authorities to track infections.

No one will not be allowed to leave or enter the area, and all businesses except essential services must close.

Ismail said a medical base will be opened in the TEMCO areas, while all roads to the four districts would be closed.

He said police, the military, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Rela and local authorities will ensure compliance.
