EMCO in Amanjaya ends with no new cases

THE administrative enhanced movement control order (EMCO) imposed in the Melur zone in Amanjaya, Kedah, has officially ended today as scheduled, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri said that the government decided to end the EMCO in the area after no new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded.

“The EMCO was terminated after no new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded for 13 days in this area, which started on September 14,” the defence minister said.

A total of 4,931 samples were taken at the Melur zone and the number of positive cases in the area remained at 13 cases, as what was recorded on September 13.

On August 28, the government enforced an administrative EMCO in three zones (Kenaga, Mawar and Melur) in Amanjaya.

The EMCO in Kenaga and Mawar ended at midnight of September 14, while it was extended for Melur after 12 positive cases were detected in the second round of screening.

The Melur zone involved 609 households with an estimated 2,529 residents. – September 27, 2020.
