BN’s Pitas candidate has Covid-19

SUFIAN Abdul Karim of Barisan Nasional became the first candidate of the Sabah state elections to test positive for Covid-19.

He announced the result of his test on Facebook, urging close contacts to get themselves screened and apologising to those whom he had inconvenienced 

“I, Sufian Abd Karim, the candidate for BN for N.03 DUN Pitas have just received my Covid-19 test results and have been confirmed positive for Covid-19,” he said.

“Pray for me so that I am given the strength to go through this test and heal fast,” he added.

He urged those who had come into close contact with him to get screened and to take the necessary precautions.

Sufian also extended his apologies to voters, elections officials and machinery, friends and relatives who had helped throughout the campaign period.

“Sorry for the inconvenience. (I) hope this will not break our spirits in this fight,” he said.

Pitas is a district in Kudat, which has reported four positive cases as of yesterday.

Sabah is currently a virus hotspot with more than 700 active cases, and eight clusters.

Polling is currently underway in Sabah and ends at 5.30pm today. – September 26, 2020.
