PKR youth has come under fire, including from some in the party leadership, for lodging a police report against a constitutional expert over his views on the king’s meeting with Anwar Ibrahim.

Party leaders said PKR youth vice-chief S. Thiban’s action was unnecessary and that he should have respected Prof Shamrahayu Ab Aziz’s views instead of taking offence and lodging a report.

  • PKR supporters should not behave like some of the UMNO bangsats like Papagomo and Jamban Jamal.

  • Well done Thiban. The good Prof is not so good after all. You are within the confines of the law in making a police report. Without people there is no Country, or government.

  • The police should entertain public complaints based on mere subjective matters. Freedom of speech is higher than anybody being offended by statements. However, there are limitations clearly defined in the law to the freedom of speech. Not agreeing with a statement made by someone that does slander, incite violence etc. Is not one of the limitations. Its a fact of life in a democracy. You cannot deny someone the right to their opinion because you lose yours in doing so.

  • I suggest that the law governing making of police reports be reviewed to discourage frivolous reports that waste valuable police resources. For a start, the maker of the report must be made accountable for the report he or she makes and that includes punitive damages for false reports.

There are just too many police reports made for the slightest reason which is clearly an abuse.
