SABAH recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 infections for the second day in a row at 97, as Malaysia recorded 111 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said with the 111 cases today, the total number of positive cases in the country jumped to 10,687.
“From the 111, four involved imported cases, of which two came from Indonesia, one from India and one from Singapore.
“Of the 107 local transmissions, 76 involved Malaysians and 31 non-Malaysians,” he said in a statement.
There were no deaths reported, keeping the death toll at 133.
Noor Hisham said the highest number of new infections in Sabah was in the Bangau-Bangau cluster, with 74 cases.
This was followed by the Benteng LD cluster with 13 cases and two from the Laut cluster.
There were also cases detected from hospital screenings, a screening at a workplace, one severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) at Tawau Hospital and one from an international gate screening.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said in Kedah, the Sungai cluster recorded seven new cases, with one caused by a SARI case at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
One case was also detected in Pahang, involving a man who has a travel history to Semporna.
“Another man from Selangor also tested positive from a symptomatic screening. He had travelled to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.”
Currently, four patients are being treated at the intensive care unit, with three requiring respiratory support.
As of today, 30 individuals were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,696. – September 25, 2020.
