YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is unavailable for an audience for a week while he is in the hospital, a palace official said today, as the ruling coalition is thrown into disarray by the opposition’s claim to power.

“His Majesty has been advised by his doctors to remain at (hospital) for seven days for observation. So until then, he will not have any meetings,” palace comptroller Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin told Reuters.

Anwar Ibrahim told the press on Wednesday he was due to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to declare he had the parliamentary majority to take Putrajaya, but that the meeting was postponed after the king fell sick.

It is the king who appoints the prime minister he judges likely to command a majority in parliament. The prime minister may advise the king to dissolve parliament, triggering elections. – September 25, 2020.

  • Now I am convinced the Agong is staying incommunicado in the hope Anwars support will evaporate. Judge for yourself if this is a good thing or not.
