SARAWAK introduced new rules today for admission into the state following a spike in Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Sabah.

All visitors entering the state from or by way of the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan are required to apply for permission via the EnterSarawak app.

They are also required to take a Covid-19 test and attach the results for approval, the state disaster management committee said.

Only reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test results which are valid for three days are accepted.

Upon approval, the visitors would be granted a five-day “limited entry pass”.

To ensure they leave within the stipulated time, the travellers must also attach a copy of their return flight ticket to their application.

Sabah accounted for 63 of the 71 new virus cases detected today in Malaysia.

Sarawakians, permanent residents and Sarawak visa pass holders returning to the state are required to apply via the EnterSrawak app.

They will be subject to a 14-day stay home order and monitored via a tracking wristband. They will be tested for the virus on the second and 10th day of isolation. The state government will bear the cost of the tests.

Frequent travellers who shuttle between Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak, such as offshore and essential services workers, may apply for a special pass from the disaster management committee office nearest to them.

They are required to be sampled for the coronavirus every 14 days.

All travellers entering the state from any destination will have to declare if they have been in Sabah or Labuan in the last 14 days. – September 24, 2020.
