PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has challenged Anwar Ibrahim to produce the names of the MPs who supposedly support him in changing the government.

“I challenge Anwar to reveal the names of the MPs that support him,” Tuan Ibrahim said in Putrajaya today.

He also reaffirmed PAS’ support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

“PAS will continue to support Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership and the Perikatan Nasional government,” said Tuan Ibrahim, the Environment and Water Minister, at an event.

All of PAS’ 15 MPs also stand by Muhyiddin, he added.

Anwar today claimed he had the support of the majority of MPs but did not name them nor state the numbers despite being pressed by journalists.

He said he would only reveal details after meeting the Yang Di Pertuan Agong, who is currently warded at the National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara). 

It is the second time Anwar has claimed he has the numbers to change the government, the first being in September 2008, which did not materialise.

Following Anwar’s press conference, Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional parties have issued statements that they remain supportive of Muhyiddin.

In a separate statement, Muhyiddin said he is still prime minister, until and unless Anwar can prove his support.

“Till proven otherwise, the Perikatan Nasional government still stands firmly and I am the legitimate prime minister,” he said. – September 23, 2020.
