PRIME Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has reminded Sabahans and all parties involved in the state elections to follow the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

Sabah has seen a spike in new Covid-19 cases, particularly from the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster, in the past few days.

“As Sabah prepares for the state elections, I want to remind all of you in Sabah to be disciplined in practising the new norms,” he said.

Muhyiddin also advised against gathering in cramped and confined spaces and shaking hands during campaigning.

“It was a norm to gather in huge numbers and to shake hands during the election season,” he said in a special address today.

“I would advise to avoid any gathering at cramped and confined places. Avoid shaking hands with voters.

“I think voters will understand if campaigners do not shake hands. What is more important is that we continue to protect one another from being infected by Covid-19,” he added.

Voting for the state elections is on September 26.  – September 15, 2020.
