New ‘Pulau’ cluster in Sabah adds to 23 new Covid-19 cases today

A NEW cluster in Sabah, called the Pulau cluster, contributed eight of the 23 new Covid-19 cases today.

Sabah also accounted for all of today’s locally transmitted cases, which stood at 13, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

These include four new cases in the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster, and another infection which was discovered when a patient was referred by the Semporna Hospital to the Tawau Hospital.

Of the 13 locally transmitted cases, ten involved citizens. 

The remainder of the 23 new cases reported today were imported.

The fresh cases today raised the national toll of infections to 9,969, of which 631 are active cases.

Fourteen patients are currently warded at the intensive care unit, while four are intubated.

Six patients were discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours after recovering from the coronavirus.

With this, the total number of recoveries now stands at 9,209.

The national Covid-19 death toll remains at 128, with no new fatalities reported. – September 15, 2020.
