THE Health Ministry has discovered a new Covid-19 cluster at a healthcare facility in Kedah.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Sungai cluster’s index case was a healthcare worker who tested positive on September 5.
The person, who was symptomatic since August 30, did not get tested.
The second patient in the cluster was also a healthcare staffer, a close contact of the index case.
The person was symptomatic since September 5 and tested positive on the same day.
“Both cases have been admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star and have been isolated and treated,” he said in a statement today.
To date, 57 people have been screened, with 55 still waiting for test results.
The ministry had previously detected four other clusters in the state – Tawar, Sivagangga, Muda and Sala. – September 7, 2020.
