THE Slim by-election last weekend was marred by corruption as Perikatan Nasional bribed voters to win, said former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.

Speaking to the press at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya, Dr Mahathir said he saw pictures of the alleged corruption.

“In Slim, we know a lot of money was used. It was very cleverly done. They brought a van to help bring voters to the polling centres. Inside the van, money was given.

“What they did was, they (voters) would take pictures (showing) that they voted for BN and they would receive the money inside the bus or van after voting.

“Maybe before voting they get RM100, after showing proof, they get another RM50. This was told to us. There are pictures of the incident,” he said this morning.

Dr Mahathir also said Muhyiddin is acting in the same manner as Najib Razak by giving money to gain support.

As soon as he became the prime minister, Muhyiddin replaced 30 heads of government-linked companies with politicians from Umno and PAS.

“Muhyiddin adopted Najib’s way in terms of giving out money.

“When I was in Pakatan Harapan, we appointed professionals to lead GLCs but when Muhyiddin became PM, he replaced all the professionals with Umno and PAS members to gather support.

“This is a form of corruption and abuse of power.” – September 3, 2020.

  • Sadly, without bribes the UMNO-PAS combo will win with pure brainwashing and other handouts.
