DESPITE its lack of a manifesto from which to gauge its performance, Muhyiddin Yassin said the Perikatan Nasional government has delivered.

“There is no manifesto, but it does not mean there is no accountability (to the people). It does not mean I can simply do anything. I have to be accountable to the rakyat,” the prime minister told a PN convention in Kuala Lumpur today, six months after the pact took Putrajaya following a tumultuous political episode.

“As a leader, it is important (to be accountable), and as a Muslim, I have a responsibility to the people.”

He said he will leave it to Malaysians to assess PN’s performance, adding that the public’s trust in his leadership “is a test for me”.

“I must not compromise my principles, and I must protect the people, regardless of their race and religion.”

Ensuring the rakyat’s welfare is a huge responsibility, he said.

“The ministers I appointed are also responsible for the people.

“If we fail to deliver, we will be questioned by Allah, and of course, the people.

“A functional cabinet and government will safeguard the public’s interests.”

Muhyiddin said among PN’s achievements is its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There are days when the new cases are in the single digits. The recovery rate is also high at 97%, and the death rate remains low at 1.3%.

“Economic sectors have also reopened, with more than 15 million people returning to work.”

He said PN is focusing on efforts to revitalise the economy through the National Economic Regeneration Plan.

“As is the case in other countries, our country’s economic sectors have been severely affected by the pandemic.

“However, our economy is showing signs of recovery following the reopening of almost all sectors.

“If this trend continues, Malaysia is expected to record positive growth next year.” – September 1, 2020.

  • No manifesto how to know you are doing the right thing. It's just hit and run

  • The covid-19 pandemic save muhyiddin. The pandemic response is largely on the advice of the professionals in the MOH. Giving financial aid to tie over the lock down is also the easy part as the govt took on more debt and no one will complain as it's too be expected.

On the other hand, had the pandemic not occurred and the economy doing well, would the PN govt be able to do better? That then will be the real test.

  • A traitor to the people who voted in the previous government, this backdoor PM is doing a "masuk bakul, angkat sendiri," especially with the handing of Covid19, ... while desperately attempting to pull wool over the eyes of the naive members of our society, and trying to lecture us about accountability, which he and his cabinet of clowns have been trampling on from the day they stole the reins of power from PH.
